Lyman-Richey Corporation is based in Omaha, Nebraska and supplies ready mixed concrete, sand,
gravel and related construction materials through its operating companies to customers in
Nebraska, Iowa and Colorado. Since its establishment in 1884 as
Lyman Sand Company in Lawrence, Kansas, the company has grown to operate in over 40 permanent
locations with approximately 800 employees.
Company History
Lyman-Richey Corporation has its origin as the Lyman Sand Company, which was established
in 1884. In that year, the company commenced excavating sand with a clamshell from
the Kaw River in Lawrence, Kansas and delivering it by horse and wagon. In 1892,
the company moved to Nebraska where it has been based ever since. The company’s
current name came about from its acquisition of the Richey Sand Company on September
30, 1918.
In
1929, the company acquired Ready Mixed Concrete Co. which had been established earlier
that year. This became Lyman-Richey Corporation’s first foray into the business
of producing and delivering concrete.
Today, the operating companies of Lyman-Richey Corporation provide quality aggregates,
ready mixed concrete and construction material throughout Nebraska, western Iowa
and eastern Colorado using state of the art production methods and delivery equipment.
