Admixtures
Gerhold Concrete Company has access to a wide variety of concrete admixtures to fit any need you may have to help place, finish, and protect your concrete.
Air Entrainment
Air entrainments primary use is in exterior concrete to help prevent damage due to freeze / thaw cycles in this region by introducing microscopic air voids in the concrete to allow for expansion and contraction of the concrete.
Water Reducer / Retarder
Water reducers are used to help disperse the cement and reduce water in the mix to help with concrete strength and durability. At higher dosage rates these admixtures help slow down the set time to act as a retarder.
Mid Range Water Reducer
Mid range water reducer is used to reduce the water in the mix at a high volume to increase strength and durability but with keeping the workability to a 4" - 6" slump range.
High Range Water Reducer
(aka HRWR or Super P)
HRWR is used to produce concrete with a low water cement ratios to gain high early strengths with a workable slump.
Chloride Accelerators
Chloride based accelerators are most commonly used for faster setting times in cold conditions or for use during concrete patching that requires the finished slab to be opened to traffic quickly. Chloride accelerators are not recommended for use around steel reinforcement.
Non-Chloride Accelerator
Non-Chloride Accelerators are used when faster set times are needed when placing the concrete in an area with steel re-enforcement.
